First Ovarian Cancer bill of the year!

Well my advocacy work begins for 2008. Tonight I e-mailed Senators Lautenberg and Menendez about cosponsoring this Act.

"Take Action on the Senate Ovarian Cancer Biomarkers Act "

"The Senate will soon introduce the Ovarian Cancer Biomarkers Research Act. This bill will authorize the National Cancer Institute to make grants to public and nonprofit entities to establish research centers of excellence devoted to the discovery of ovarian cancer biomarkers.
This research to discover biomarkers has the potential to lead to the development of an early detection test, or help target treatments for ovarian cancer patients. Ovarian cancer has no effective screening test. This bill will help the federal government increase its focus on ovarian cancer, the deadliest gynecologic cancer."

Senators Dole and Boxer are introducing the the Bill in the Senate.

If you want to send an e-mail to your senators go to http://www.ovariancancer.org and click on Advocacy. A template is provided, so it is easy to send an e-mail to your senators.
